The new CPU supports data-execution prevention which prevented Crystal Reports 11 from running properly. But now and for the last week I have not been able to get Crystal Reports to reinstall. I've very carefully purged the computer of all files related to crystal reports, and ran the windows installer cleanup utility to check if any turds were left behind. The event viewer doesn't show anything useful other than events from "MsiInstall" that show an install for Crystal reports was initiated. I know for a fact that Crystal can run on the exactly same hardware and OS because I have another virtual server that installed Crystal without any issue using the same install source.
Thanks for the suggestion - I actually had already tried that without success. DEP was not preventing the software from installing, but it did prevent the installed product from running once installed.
